Laser Hair Removal
At Persona, we always start with a test patch and a consultation with one of our internationally trained and experienced doctors. This is done to assess your skin and hair type, to check your overall health and suitability for this procedure as well as to make a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs. Ideally there is a high contrast between skin colour and hair colour. In cases where the hair is very light, or the skin very dark, results might be compromised somewhat.
All parts of the body where hair is present can be treated with the exceptions of the areas around the eyes. The light energy from the laser is absorbed by the melanin pigment in the hair follicles which are then destroyed. The state-of-the art lasers we use have an inbuilt air-cooling jet, that has a refreshing effect while the laser is being applied making the treatment comfortable even for clients with a low pain threshold.
In between laser sessions, waxing or plucking should not be carried out since this will interfere with treatment. However, shaving the part to be treated the day before is recommended. After the treatment hot showers and strenuous exercise are to be avoided for the first three days. Also direct sunlight should be avoided and the application of sun block is highly recommended.

All You Need to Know about Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is possible on almost every part on the body with the exception of the areas around the eyes. For women some of the more popular areas are arms, underarms, legs, bikini area, upper lip, and chin. For men the most popular area is the upper body.
How does it feel?
Each laser pulse feels like a rubber band is hitting against the client’s skin. This can be experienced by the client during the test patch. Some client’s threshold to pain is less than others, and for these clients an anesthetic cream can be applied to the area involved one hour before the procedure.
Are there any risks?
After the procedure some redness and swelling around the hair follicles can be seen. However, this fades within 24 hours and gel may be applied immediately to the area to relieve the skin. The result of laser hair removal is smooth, hairless skin with no sign of ingrown hairs.
In extremely rare cases the skin gets burned due to a mismatch of intensity and skin type. We always start with a test patch and a consultation. This is done to assess your skin type and adjust the machine accordingly.
How many treatments do I need?
In order to achieve optimal results, multiple treatment sessions are required since the most effective time to reduce hair is in the growing phase. Therefore we recommend the treatments to take place within 4 to 6 weeks from each other for most areas. The time in between treatment sessions is a bit shorter for areas such as the face because it has a shorter hair growing cycle.
Which machine do you use?
We use a state of the art Cynosure laser. The Elite™ Aesthetic Workstation is a versatile, dual-wavelength laser that features multiple wavelengths for procedures on both dark and light skin type patients. Unlike lasers with pre-set treatment parameters, the Elite includes a variety of spot sizes and adjustable pulse durations, allowing us to tailor treatments based on our patients’ specific needs.
